Hi

I just bought myself a NES 8 bit and when i fired up Super Mario 1... a single tear of happiness rolled down my cheek.
Though when i look closer on the screen it doesn't really look so good.

There are plenty of artifacts, looks almost or EXACTLY like a badly compressed .jpg picture with artifacts distorting the image and slanted letters.

Connection chain.
Audio/Video cables -> AV to scart adapter -> Scart to AV modern samsung scart -> Samsung UE46D7005 (2011 i think)

Is it supposed to look like this in 1080p?
I can't even read the text sometimes.

Come on... little mario isn't supposed to look like that! We have to save him!

I have tried by cleaning the system inside and out, changing to a brand new 72 pin and cleaned the game's connector.

Any ideas?

That's the magic of composite video. To remedy this I recommend buying a viletim nesrgb when they're back in stock. I can install it for a fee.

Yes this is it. And yes this is the best rgb mod.

the nesrgb board has none of the issues of the old mod just clean, crisp rgb and no composite artifacts.

Im actually waiting for them to go on sale again because i want to build a couple more systems.

I'm really looking forward to it, just kind of annoying that it's a "amateur" kit so availability is kind of sparse.
I think this guy should patent it, turn it into a proper product with a nice box and printed manual.

It would truly be a first of it's kind.

Drakon thanks for your offer to install it, but i really enjoy doing easy mods myself.
Makes me feel like i accomplished something magical and great, while it was actually not more than assembling an IKEA bookshelf.
Which at times can 10 times more difficult than soldering a few joints.

Smile

No problem if you want to do it yourself.

I dont know about a printed manual, etc its really not nessecary. But if i was viletim i would surely hold a patent on something thats selling so much like the nesrgb.

Id be surprised if he didnt have one.
