This looks pretty amazing, I might try to do one of these soon! I have all AVR programmers at school and the person who made the video gave pretty detailed instructions along with a parts list.

I'm having trouble finding a case that I like, for the receiver. The one he used seems to be sold in europe, not in the US

For most things like that I have an electronics hobbyist store near me that sells small project boxes for like $1.50

You can probably find them on ebay (I've never looked)

You're lucky to have options. We do have radio shack over here, but they don't have any variety. I'll try ebay and maybe digikey too.

Yeah but guess what....I can't buy a desoldering iron here. I live in canada's largest city and stores don't sell desoldering irons. All I could find were plastic solder pumps that did more damage than desoldering. I had to get friends / clients in america to buy and mail me a radio shack desodlering iron and replacement heads because radioshack only ships within the states....

Did you ask your hobby store why they don't sell desoldering irons?

Yeah...because they think those stupid plastic pumps will work well enough....

The plastic pumps not only take the solder out...they take the whole trace with it.

What wrong with the 12$ radioshack bulb desoldering iron? I found if I replace the tip often enough on it my desoldering thing works great.

I'm looking for speed and efficiency. I never had much luck with the radio shack one, but i will give it another go next time I need to desolder. Its a luxury item, what dreams are made of!

Oh okay. I found the radioshack iron works when the head is new enough but the heads need replacing very frequently.
