snes controllers on a gamecube.

is there an adapter for this out there? i see plenty for the wii. Id like to use one with the gameboy player.

i just got a cube along with a 1-chip snes i bought, and am interested in getting a gb player.

that second link - that product wont work on gamecube. the seller told me it would only work on wii.

i got my gamecube power supply today. Now i can see if it actually turns on. I still dont have a controller though.

I got that ebay adapter today.  It does work on the gamecube but the control response is delayed...what a piece of cheap crap.  The retroport works way better it's a much better product.

well, my cube works. I finally have something to play gb on fullscreen - or close to it. I still need a player though.

Ive been using a super gameboy all this time.

I just bought a gb player with start up disc and castlevania aria of sorrow.

Update: i finally got a controller for this and my cube wont read discs. the laser comes on but the drive never spins up.
looks like i got one with a bad spindle motor unless someone here knows something else about it.

I bypassed the lid closed switch and am running it with the top off thats how i know that the laser does come on.

anyone know of a gamecube repair forum?

i wish i would have realized this a week ago when i bought my gb player and had to wait on it to arrive, but i didnt have any discs to test it out with.

I don't think you can just replace the motor I think you'd need to replace the dvd drive.  The dvd drive literally just plugs into a port that's how easy it is to remove it.  I've fully stripped and rebuilt a gamecubes, including a full disassembly of the dvd drive.  I also poked around the s-video circuit and found a way to make the luma brighter without adding an amp.

I got lucky and found some working motors on ebay. i bought one. for $6.99 even if it only lasts a year or two its worth it.

If that's the problem.  The driver board could be dead too. I bought an "untested" black gamecube on ebay for 30$ shipped, when it arrived I plugged it in and everything works fine.

what would you want for a working cube? i could use a spare anyway. i guess you could include it in that box with the nes, when im ready for it.

btw, i also ordered a snes retroport.

Btw, ive found that the gc controller is another one of those controllers (like the dreamcast) that doesnt look like it would be comfortable, but actually is somewhat comfortable. I dont like the button layout though.

You want just a working cube no controllers or power brick right? The gamecube controller isn't bad but that d-pad is garbage.

i got my retroport today. works good as far as i can tell. it is a quality product the plastic is real nice.

I got my snes retroport just in time - i notice theyve been discontinued.
