| Here's the schematic: Here's my version of the same schematic Here's the installation guide: mcd l, mcd r, out l, out r, 32x l, and 32x r all have capacitors in those spots that need to be removed. They've already been removed in this picture. You don't need to wire the "out l" and "out r" into those solder spots if you prefer you can wire the out l and out r from the crystal clear audio mod circuit directly into a headphone jack or a connector of your choice. parts list: Here is the list I believe: 1x 4558D Operational Amplifier 4x 2SC945 Bipolar Transistors (or compatible transistor) Resistors: (I used 1/4 watt 1% resistors for my circuit and they worked perfectly) 2x 75 3x 100 2x 220 2x 330 6x 470 4x 750 2x 1K 2x 1.5K 2x 2.7K 1x 3.3K 2x 4.7K 2x 10K 2x 22K 3x 100K Capacitors: 2x 0.022uF (non polarized) 1x 0.1uF 4x 100uF From what I've read this audio circuit is designed for the va0, va1, or va1.8 model 2 sega genesis / megadrive. This installation guide shows a picture of the va0 / va1 / va1.8 model. Other models have a different pcb layout so I wouldn't know where to wire the inputs. Where you make solder bridges there used to be surface mount parts. It's perfectly safe to remove the surface mount parts and connect those two spots with solder. | |

| Is it possible to use transistors BC847B(BC850B) instead of 2SC945? | |

| no you have to follow it exactly with the 2SC945 right Drakon? | |

Wrong there's plenty of alternative transistors, I didn't use the 945 in my circuit I used a bc546 transistors. Most transistors have various models that all do the same thing. At the store I bought my transistors from they had this little book that told me what transistors were compatible with each other. They didn't carry the 945 transistors so we just used the book and found a compatible transistor that they carried and it worked great. I don't know if the BC847B(BC850B) are compatible and I'm too lazy to look it up just do a search and see what you can find.

Thx, BC847B (BC850B) are very similar in characteristics for BC546, but have different package.

| Out of all my projects I'd say about 50% of them I used the transistors that were used in the schematic. The other 50% I just found compatible transistors by doing web searches. | |

| I started drawing this schematic for use with stripboard, and it's less than easy, in fact it would take a stripboard larger than the Genesis 2. This is definitely a great candidate for a custom prototype board (made to order) to conserve space and make the mod available to a larger audience. Does anyone believe that a custom prototype board being made is a good/bad idea? I just not seeing a solution, to this rather large audio circuit, and I'd love to do this mod. I have the soldering skills, but I'm having a difficult time trying to get this circuit mapped out using even single hole prototype breadboard. There has to be a better circuit layout. The current layout is aesthetically pleasing and somewhat uniform, but it doesn't take common restrictions into mind. I wouldn't mind seeing a finished install of this mod. I'm assuming it looks something like a resistor ball, no? It would be great if Tiido thought about either selling unpopulated boards, or maybe drawing out a stripboard or single hole breadboard schematic. I'd do it if I could, in fact that was what I was trying to do. | |

| I think someone made a layout design on sega16. I just built mind on breadboard and connected things using a network of wires. | |

| Thanks for the reply. It would have been extra helpful if you would have had a link. I will try to find it, and if I can't, would it be too much trouble for you to find it for me? Thanks Drakon. | |

I can't be bothered but you can always look. Perhaps you should try the stickied thread titled something like "crystal clear audio mod"

| i just bought a high definition graphics genesis.
since there is a lack of information out there and conflicting reports of where the x eye sits sound-wise, i want to compare it to an original genesis. i know one thing, Gauntlet sounds awesome on the x eye but thunder force 4 sounds scratchy. im thinking its more the game than the x eye. from what i listened to on youtube, thunder force 4 intro doesnt sound much better on the original genesis.
Drakon - what are some games that really test the sound limits and are sampled well?

| I actually noticed when playing streets of rage 2 when he says "bare knuckle" it would noticably sound different between consoles. So streets of rage 2 became my audio comparison benchmark for models with minor differences in audio quality. I'm curious how the x'eye sounds too, I was really disappointed to find out the pc engine duo sounds worse than the original pc engine + cd unit. - mvsfan wrote:
