| Ok, I'm here! Next project after these commissions are done will be Genesis 3 portable and I'd like to try that sound mod and picture mod I saw you post a little while ago and cram it into a case about the size of The Nimbus II. I think it can be done, but I have no idea how to read Tidio (sp) diagram or what I components I need. This is where you come in Drakon! | |

First of all welcome to my forum Downing! So glad you're here! Second of all... https://16bitgamer.canadian-forum.com/t33-tiido-priimagi-s-crystal-clear-audio-modThat's as simplified as I could make the schematic. If I were you I'd add tiido to windows live messenger he said it's possible to wire up this audio circuit to a genesis 3 but you need to change a couple of resistors and I have no guide on how to wire the audio circuit into the genesis 3 (tiido I'm sure will help with that). Really though such an amazing audio circuit like this one shouldn't be used on a portable it deserves a proper sound system to be truly experienced. Regarding the schematic what exactly can't you read? I made a new version that shows you how to wire up the 4558 op amp IC: It's not the prettiest but it shows you how to wire up an op amp. If you don't know how to wire transistors here's a guide I found after a quick google search So when you find your 2sc945 or compatible transistors then you need to lookup the datasheet for the transistors you bought to find the pinout and find which pins are collector, base, and emitter. You should be careful though as many transistors can have different data sheets with different pinouts. Usually when I hand wire transistors I wire them up in a way that's easy to change the wiring since most transistors have multiple datasheets with different pinouts

| Oh I can see it clearly enough, I've just never build anything off a schematic like that before so I don't really know what I'm looking at is all. Yeah, I'll probably just use the stock out puts for the portable as I really don't see need to make it more complicated for something I'm probably just going to sell off anyway. But who knows! Gotta finish off my projects I've got going on right now first. | |

Really this complex circuit deserves a proper sound system at home.

| Well I was planning on having A/V out through either S-video or RCA. Just out of curiosity, is the Genesis 3 a mono only system? I think I saw the Mega Drive 2 had R&L audio. It's gotta be stereo right? | |

megadrive / genesis 2 has stereo genesis 3 both pcb revisions are mono only (I have both revisions). There's a stereo mod for the genesis 3 but it's annoying you have to build an amp.

| Really...well that's a bit disconcerting. Why would they make a newer model with less features than the old? I mean it's going to be great to make into a portable, but screw any nice features like A/V out and wall power if I can't even get stereo out of the damn thing. Ah well, it'll be a cheap and quick mod hopefully and with only one speaker, saves that much more room. | |

More features = more circuitry = it wouldn't have been so small.

| With that said, do you have the pin-outs on the 3 for A/V? Looking around some more. | |

It's the same av port as the genesis 2

| Not two seconds ago I found this same one! haha. Now how do I tell if my screen is RGB? I think I'll get better quality if I use it like that and I think my screen instructions said it had an RGB mode. | |

I dunno I don't make portables. Uhm, look at the manual for it?

U can't have stereo if there isn't any. There is stereo in the genesis 3 they just connected the two channels together. You can disconnect the channels from each other and restore the stereo sound.
