Awesome live versions of video game music

Okay let's see awesome live bands that play video game music.....

#1: The Black Mages

This group is about as real as you can get. Nobuo Uematsu (the guy who wrote pretty much all the music in every final fantasy) is even in this group. This is an all Japanese group. Unfortunately to date their best work is mostly from their first album.


#2: Metroid metal

From what I remember reading these guys have their own metal group and as a side project they decided to do the music from metroid games. I love what they do to the metroid songs. Sometimes they change the songs so much there's hardly anything left of the original....but I don't care because they always make it sound awesome :thumb:


#3: The minibosses

These guys have been around forever. They're certainly not the most talented video game music band but they were the first band I heard about that did live covers of video game music besides....sega sound team? They've also noticably improved over the years. So what makes the minibosses so special? They cover a lot of great songs. End of story. :cool:

I would highly recommend S.S.T (Sega Sound Team) they played concerts during 1988-1989, they play music from all the popular sega dedicated machine games plus others it is simply amazing a must to check out unbelievable how good these guys are!!

All their songs are amazing, especially powerdrift, afterburner, space harrier and phantasy star three intro.

I recently found out about 8BitBrigade, they also do great music, they play music from games such as megaman 2 and ninja gaiden. It is very interesting because they play the music while a person plays through the game.

Oh yeah SST is awesome. Too bad they havn't been around since like...sometime in the early 90s :(

I found a band called "bit brigade" on youtube. That the same band as 8bitbrigade?
