looks awesome. Does it still require the f-labo kit?

Nope, no need for an expensive / rare rgb chip either. It's a new kit.

Ah - FPGA ppu interpretation. Nice. when can i get my own kit? This looks amazing. and no color emphasis problems i bet.
just in time too - ive either sold or traded off all my ppus except the one in my nes. I wont be stuck with a bunch of them when they become worthless.

I've already found a couple of bugs so I'm working with the author by e-mail to get those worked out before it gets released.

have you found any hardware bugs, or just software?
you dont have to reveal who the author is if they dont want, but could i see a picture of this thing in action?
what type of connections will it support?
If i seem anxious thats because i am.
it didnt bother me at first - ive been playing my rgb nes for weeks and loving it.
but those faint jailbars in my system are starting to bug me.

Only bug is it not supporting grayscale mode which is something he just forgot to add, it's very easy for him to add that feature. Output is rgb and s-video, zero video interference and the pallette is composite (you can actually select between three different pallettes)

I don't know when it will be out, everything works there should be no compatibility issues whatsoever. I honestly haven't bothered playing with the rgb pallette it looks a lot better with the composite pallette.

btw - ive noticed that krikzz fixed mike tysons punch out for rgb with the V.7 n8 mappers.
thats great cause its one of my favorite nes games.
Btw - are the rgb kits going to make them available as a kit or just as pre-installed into a system?

I just got word, 19th of october is the expected released date.
These will be available as a kit only you will need to either install it yourself or hire someone to install it for you. Remember this kit gets rgb from a composite ppu so there's no more worry about making stuff rgb ppu compatible. I've been working with the author to make an adapter to relocate the ppu socket so the kit fits under the case of the av famicom and the nes 2:
Obviously the case won't close with it like this.

Cool - so it fits the toaster. My toaster has a replacement connector that has a death grip on the cartridge. i dont even push it down.
I have lost my enthusiasm for the top-load nes since mine broke. Im used to wiring arcade cabinets and i like the room that the toaster has for mods inside.
I love it that this kit just plugs into the socket on the nes and doesnt have a bunch of wires.
Thats the main area where i fault the atari kits. if your going to go through the trouble of designing a kit why have all those wires like the atari kit has especially when all the pins used are in a line one after the other. IT would have been so easy just to have that board to plug into a socket.
Ive asked all these questions except the most important one. have they decided on a price yet for the nes kits?

Later this month these can be had to the public from Viletim! I'm glad I was able to help test it on different console revisions and work out measurements for adapters to make it fit under the cases. So far the biggest difficulty was getting it to go in my twin famicom, luckily I pulled it off.
Also getting my hands on these a little early is also a huge plus.

so youd charge $100 to install the kit on top of the 110 or so for the kit?
I may just do that but i dont have it right now and the problem is i want that kit before its sold out. How would i go about ordering one from viletim? is he even taking pre-orders?

Thanks for sharing that kickass video. Very nice! Is this the one you were telling me about awhile back? The all digital one where it displays in original nes colors? Looks great!

So awesome. How do the different palettes compare in your opinion?

Ive got another question. Are the palettes hot switchable or do you have to power down the nes to switch? so the rp2co4 palette isnt included? aw sometimes its fun to run it that way.

Composite pallette in rgb is way better clearly games were designed for it.

its still fun to play around with them though.
I think the rgb palette is more vibrant, but that yellow needs to go.
i wish that you could have combined palettes - just picked your favorite colors from the two of them and uploaded it to the board via usb.

Technically you could make any pallette you want but I don't think viletim plans on adding that.
